Transfer deadline day is edging closer, with less than 48 hours of the January transfer window for clubs to conduct their business.

Clubs from the Sky Bet Championship will expect to be amongst the busiest, with so much at stake in the English second-tier, at both the top and bottom of the table.

Whilst many clubs are trying to get out of the Championship, one club battling to stay there is Sunderland, who find themselves in danger of falling through the trap door this season.

Under the watch of Chris Coleman, Sunderland occupy a place in the relegation zone – albeit on goal difference.

Coleman will be looking to bring bodies to the Stadium of Light in the coming days, but there is also every chance he could look to thin his Sunderland squad down.

With that in mind, we take a look at TWO players who could potentially be on their way out of Sunderland before 11pm tomorrow…

Jack Rodwell

Rodwell has managed just two Championship appearances this term, and all in all, his Sunderland career has been nothing short of a disaster.

There has been speculation about the midfielder’s Sunderland future all month, but heading into the final 48 hours of the window, he is still at the Stadium of Light.

Things can change quickly at this late stage of the window, and there could be one final twist in Rodwell’s crazy Sunderland career.

Lamine Kone

Kone is another high-profile name that hasn’t really done it at Sunderland over the last 18 months, with the defender’s performances often leaving a lot to be desired.

The 28-year-old has missed large parts of the season through injury, but is now edging back to full fitness.

Like Rodwell, there has been speculation about Kone’s future this month, and in the coming days, if big money goes down for the Ivorian, you would expect to see Sunderland look to move him on.
