Gary Rowett will already be making transfer plans in his new role as Stoke City boss as he looks to build a squad that can challenge for promotion.

The former Derby manager took over at the bet365 stadium last week and is sure to have a busy summer with the Potters set to lose several key stars.

Whilst keeping the likes of Jack Butland, Joe Allen and Xherdan Shaqiri looks a tall order, Rowett will be given serious financial backing to ensure Stoke's stay outside the top-flight is a short one.

But, he will have to use that money wisely as we've seen in the past that having the biggest budget doesn't always equate to success in the second tier.

Here we look at three signings Stoke should look to complete in the coming weeks...

Rowett is a fan of the Ireland midfielder and was thought to be interested in bringing him to Derby.

Stoke are not blessed with great options in the final third but McClean would add something different with his pace, aggression and determination.

Whilst he may not be the most technically gifted, he has proven himself to be a good player in the Championship before.

Reports have emerged linking Stoke with a move for the versatile Osborn who can play at left-back or in midfield.

Another who has a good engine and is a comfortable on the ball, the Forest man would add Championship experience to this Stoke side.

Rowett wanted the player at Derby so clearly sees a lot of potential in the 23-year old.

The priority signing for the Potters this season has to be a forward and what better man than the top scorer in the Championship?

Rowett knows all about Vydra, and his technique, movement and composure in front of goal would be a major asset for Stoke in the Championship.
