It was a steady season in the Sky Bet Championship for Queens Park Rangers, who were one club lucky enough not to be dragged into a relegation battle.

Ian Holloway led his side to 16th in the Championship table, and although the season finished with a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Leeds United, QPR were still 15 points clear of the relegation zone.

Despite a mid-table finish, Holloway has since departed Loftus Road, with Steve McClaren, ex-England, Derby County and Middlesbrough manager, replacing him in the dugout ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

McClaren’s first duty at Loftus Road will be reshaping the squad he has inherited from Holloway, as he looks to guide QPR to a more successful campaign.

The World Cup is going to disrupt the summer of so many clubs in the coming weeks, so with that in mind, we take a look at THREE deals McClaren needs to get done before the summer’s main event…

McClaren worked with Martin at Derby County and knows what the striker is all about.

It’s been a difficult year for Martin, who hasn’t impressed for the Rams or Reading - where he spent the second-half of the season on-loan.

A summer move will be best for the striker, and a reunion with McClaren could help him rediscover his best form.

Oztumer is out of contract with Walsall this summer, and after some impressive performances in the League One, he could well be on his way to the Championship.

It’d be a fairly risk-free deal for McClaren to look at and one that could potentially be excellent for QPR.

Lichaj has been on consistent player for Nottingham Forest over the years, but QPR could look to take advantage of Aitor Karanka’s reshape.

The full-back has a lot of qualities that would suit QPR and would be a shrewd addition for McClaren to make.

Making a move early would hand QPR a chance.
