The Championship season is now completely over with Aston Villa and Rotherham United confirmed as the 23rd and 24th teams to be taking part in next season's second tier campaign.

Aston Villa lost to Fulham in the play-off final and Rotherham beat Shrewsbury Town the following day to make up the final two spots in the Championship for the 2018/19 season.

The transfer window is now fully underway and rumours are flying about left, right and centre as each team attempts to complete early summer business.

With the World Cup fast approaching, clubs are trying to get deals over the line without the distraction of the big tournament holding up business.

Nottingham Forest are no exception to this with Aitor Karanka desperate to strengthen the squad he inherited from Mark Warburton.

Players are expected to come and go but Karanka should try to bring these three players to Nottingham Forest before the World Cup starts in two weeks.

The first piece of business that Forest need to complete is a permanent deal for Tomlin.

The 29-year-old added some much needed creativity to the Reds' midfield, scoring four and assisting three goals after arriving in January.

Cardiff City do not seem to want the experienced midfielder for their Premier League squad and a deal could be sanctioned soon.

Another player who could add a creative spark to the midfield is assist king Maddison.

The 24-year-old is one of the best players in League One and he backed this up with 10 goals and 21 assists for Peterborough United this season.

Posh have transfer listed their star man to let him compete at a higher level and Forest need to snap him up early before his price is driven up.

Striker is a priority position for Karanka to focus on this summer after the shortcomings of Apostolos Vellios, Ben Brereton and Daryl Murphy in front of goal.

If Forest could snap up Grabban, they would have a proven goal scorer at this level to fire them up the table.

Aston Villa might look to sign the 30-year-old permanently, though, after they were consigned to another year in the Championship.
