Daniel Farke will want to improve on a disappointing first season at the club.

The Canaries finished in 14th place as they had issues dispatching opponents even though they often created a lot. Farke's style of play was part of this issue due to the high demands put on players which take a while to get used to.

Norwich could be likely to lose James Maddison this summer due to his stunning individual campaign, so he will need to be replaced. They also won't be receiving any more parachute payments, which means outgoings are likely in order to reduce the wage budget. Therefore, they need to be smart with their signings this summer.

Here are three players they should bring in...

Aina was on loan at Hull City from Chelsea last season where he impressed in the right-back role, which is an area of concern for Norwich. The 20-year-old would be a smart way to improve that area without spending a lot because they relied on Harrison Reed and Ivo Pinto last season.

Reed was on loan from Southampton, so he is unlikely to be there next season and Pinto isn't convincing in the slightest. Aina would be a good addition for the team while also helping him as an individual due to the consistent playing time which is important for a 21-year-old.

He is a modern full-back in that he just as comfortable attacking as he is defending, so he would be a perfect fit for Farke's system.

Oviedo is another full-back that Norwich should be targeting because he will be playing in League One next season due to Sunderland's relegation. He is significantly better than that level, so the Canaries should consider trying to pry him away, although this is likely to have been made harder with the new owners at the club.

Norwich were heavily reliant on Jamal Lewis near the end of the season; this was good to see because he is 20-years-old, but it isn't the best solution if they are targeting a top six finish. Having another more experienced option in that position to rotate between is important and Oviedo can provide that. They do also have James Husband and Marco Stiepermann for that position. However, Husband isn't the most reliable and Stiepermann's versatility means he could be used in other positions.

The Costa Rican international is comfortable in forward areas with two goals and five assists in the league, so Farke should consider moving for him.

Maddison formed a deadly partnership with Jack Marriott for Peterborough in League One last season. He scored eight goals and provided 15 assists with his versatility being useful because he could play on the wing, as an attacking midfielder or as a support striker.

The 24-year-old would be a good replacement for Maddison due to the mixture of goal threat and creativity he provides as well as the number of roles he could fill depending on who is available for the team.

James Maddison's probable departure will leave a big hole in the team, so they will require a significant fee to find someone who can replace that or help nullify its effects. The other Maddison could be that player and he is just waiting for an opportunity at this level.
