It promises to be a big summer for Birmingham City as Garry Monk looks to build a squad that can challenge for a top six spot in the Championship.

Blues had a tough season, with Monk appointed following a dismal spell under Steve Cotterill, with the aim all about survival.

It took until the final day, but Monk managed to preserve Blues' Championship status and there were some positive signs along the way.

He got the side playing more attacking, forward-thinking football and results followed.

However, it's clear that new additions are needed to boost the squad and it won't be easy finding the right players with Monk not likely to be backed by significant investment.

Here we look at three deals they could conclude in the coming weeks though...

Reports have suggested that David Stockdale will be allowed to leave St. Andrew's this summer and that Blues have identified the QPR stopper as his replacement.

Stockdale, whilst a capable keeper, is on big wages and it's understandable that the club want to offload him.

Smithies would be a great replacement, having proven himself to be a top Championship keeper in recent years.

Blues have been heavily linked with the Union Berlin left-back and his arrival would solve what has been a problem position for Monk.

Jonathan Grounds injury meant the side had no natural left-back so it's clear they need someone to come in this summer.

Pedersen has good pedigree and could thrive in England.

Whilst the football and productivity improved under Monk, the West Midlands side still need a striker this window and Bradshaw could be a smart acquisition.

With Barnsley relegated he is a realistic arrival and the 25-year old has the movement and intelligence to play in a Monk team and could excel with the likes of Che Adams and Jota supplying him.
