Although the 2017/18 campaign has been another one of upheaval for Nottingham Forest, the appointment of Aitor Karanka as the club’s manager has at the very least offered supporters some hope of optimism for next season.

The new Reds boss recruited very shrewdly during the January transfer window and Forest fans will be desperately keen to see what the Spaniard has on the agenda for his summer transfer plans.

The likes of Ben Watson, Joe Lolley and Adlene Guedioura were all signed on permanent deals during January to add vast Championship experience to a squad in need of a boost.

With Forest on a downward spiral when the ex-Middlesbrough manager took over from Mark Warburton, he has at the very least thwarted any immediate danger of relegation and the Reds fans can now start to cast one eye towards next season.

Football League World writer Lee Clarke looks at two players who the Forest boss might look to offload as part of a summer clear-out…

Any thoughts that Forest boss Karanka has about giving central defender Hobbs a new deal at the City Ground must be quashed.

The ex-Hull City man has barely played in two seasons due to various injuries and Forest must get his excessive wage off the books in order to bolster the squad in other areas.

The Greek striker is running out of chances to impress at the City Ground and when he has been given a starting berth under Karanka he has been extremely disappointing.

Forest need to sign a couple of strikers during the summer and quite frankly Vellios isn’t good enough to feature on a frequent basis in the Championship.

Nottingham Forest fans, do you agree that the club should get rid of these two in the summer? Let us know in the comments below!!!
