Stoke City take a break from league action tonight, after a dismal run of form of late.

Things seemed to be looking up for the Potters, after beating Swansea city by a goal to nil over a week ago, but a 3-2 home defeat to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend was their fourth loss of the season.

Gary Rowett's men now sit 18th in the Championship table, despite being tipped the bookies' favourites to lift the Championship title in May before the season had started.

Tonight will perhaps give Rowett the chance to rotate his squad against a Nottingham Forest side that also look set to make some wholesale changes, after being unbeaten in their last three games.

Here, we take a look at the Stoke City XI that we expect to face Nottingham Forest on Wednesday evening...

Giving Jack Butland a chance in goal, Adam Federici has made just the one appearance for Stoke this season which came in this competition, and we fully expect the 33-year old to start between the sticks tonight.

After featuring twice for Stoke this season, youngster Edwards could be in line to make his third start of the campaign after breaking into the first-team under Rowett this season.

The Welshman has only featured once for Stoke following his red card against Wigan earlier on in the season, and is expected to return to the team tonight.

Partnering Williams could be Souttar, who is expected to be in the frame to make his first start for the Potters tonight.

The Scotsman joined Stoke last term from Dundee United.

Another player who is expected to start tonight is Tymon, who is also yet to make an appearance for Stoke following his arrival from Hull City last term.

The first midfielder to start in a midfield trio for Stoke is likely to be Ryan Woods, who has shown glimpses of class following his arrival from Brentford in the summer.

Fletcher is expected to make a return to the side tonight after missing out on Saturday's defeat to Blackburn.

Allen is slowly finding his feet this season after netting against Swansea a week ago, and is expected to keep his place in the Potters line-up tonight.

The former Barcelona playmaker has featured off the bench for Stoke a number of times this season, but has the opportunity to show why he should be starting week in, week out tonight.

Berahino was both the hero and villain for Stoke at the weekend, after scoring a goal that nearly sparked a Potters weekend, before missing a penalty in stoppage time in which would have salvaged a last-gasp draw for Rowett's men.

He will be looking to make amends tonight.

Completing the Stoke line-up is Mame Biram Diouf, who is again expected to keep his place in the team tonight.
