The Stoke City XI we expect Gary Rowett to field v Sheffield Utd tomorrow

Published

Gary Rowett will be desperate for his Stoke City side to put on a positive showing when they travel to Bramall Lane on Tuesday night to face high-flying Sheffield United.

The Potters are far from high-flying after playing 13 games in the Championship since their relegation from the Premier League last season.

They were comfortable favourites to win the second-tier title before a ball had been kicked this campaign and it is easy to see why, after looking at their summer business.

Tom Ince, James McClean, Ashley Williams, Benik Afobe, Cuco Martina and Ryan Woods were all amongst the arrivals. Players who have proven they are either too good for the second tier or are very good at this level.

It is somewhat surprising that Rowett’s side currently sit in 17th place in the table, with a 1-0 loss at home to Birmingham City the latest blow to their season.

You get the impression that the former Derby boss is still figuring out his best squad and will be wracking his brain thinking about who he will pick tomorrow night.

So here is the XI we expect him to start with against Chris Wilder’s side…
