Nottingham Forest have been one of the busiest clubs in the entire Football League this summer, bringing in a host of new faces.

Manager Aitor Karanka added two more faces to his side last week with the signings of Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Claudio Yacob. Both midfielders and free agents.

It can often be hard getting four or five new faces to successfully gel in time for the new season, let alone the amount Forest have signed. We posed the question to Forest fans - Has Aitor Karanka signed too many players?

An emphatic 63% of voters said that they had signed too many players.

The signings of Yacob and Tachtsidis means that the club now has six players who primarily operate as a holding midfielder, with Ben Watson, Jack Colback, Liam Bridcutt and Adlene Guedioura all focused on that spot in the side as well.

So are the Forest faithful correct?

It feels like Karanka is signing players for the sake of it without putting his coaching methods to work.

Of course, it’s going to take time for all Forest’s new faces to settle in, and I think we will see the best of them later in the season, but right now that squad looks far too big.

It’s clear that Forest needed a summer overhaul after what was a disappointing season last year.

Have they signed too many players? No.

Have they signed too many midfielders and not enough out-and-out strikers? Yes.

Murphy and Grabban as their only strikers worry me.

Louie Chandler

Most definitely.

When the main transfer window shut it had the feel of a really successful window, but since the season has started it has felt a bit like panic stations.

Karanka really has no excuses for this season to be anything other than a success.
