Tony Pulis’ time at Middlesbrough is hanging in the balance after a disastrous slump in form.

Boro have dropped out of the play-off places and are adrift of the top-six by two points after last night’s defeat to promotion rivals Bristol City.

That was the club’s fifth successive defeat – a run that has seen the pressure increase on Pulis’ future at the Riverside.

In fact, Boro have won just two of their previous ten games and are bottom of the Championship form table after the last five results.

Fans are losing patience with their manager and a chorus of jeers filled the stadium at full time on Tuesday evening.

Some supporters are even calling for Pulis to be sacked in the wake of the defeat on social media.

The season continues to unravel for Middlesbrough, who look like they are going to miss out on the play-offs having reached the semi-final stage a year ago.

Is it time for Pulis to go after the latest in a long line of Boro defeats?

We asked our team of FLW writers their opinion...

Gary Hutchinson

"It's been time for Pulis to go for a while.

"He's never convinced me; he's done nothing that Monk wouldn't have done.

"His time as a manager is up, not just at Boro but everywhere.

"Those tactics just don't work anymore. People have got wise; let's hope Steve Gibson does."

Jay Taylor

“I’m struggling to see how he can continue in the role.

“The football is turgid, the results are getting worse, and there seems to be no end to the misery in the north east.

“Pulis’ time has come, he can’t outrun evolution anymore with his pre-historic tactics.

“Boro are going to miss out on the play-offs, bite the bullet and get rid now.”

George Brooks

“There is no denying that Middlesbrough have not been good enough under Tony Pulis in recent weeks and five straight defeats have seen their play-off hopes suffer a big blow.

“To see Boro in this position would have seemed almost unthinkable a few months ago, but they are only two points outside the play-offs at the moment, and there is still time for Pulis to turn things around.

“With so much still to play for, getting rid of the manager at this stage of the season is a massive risk.”

Jacob Potter

“It should have been time for him to depart weeks ago.

“Pulis isn't getting the best out of the players he has at his disposal, and I don't think he's the right man for the job.

“The sooner they get rid of him, the better.”
