The Lincoln City story is one of success, trophies and triumph in recent years.

They have won three pieces of silverware in successive seasons and the club has gone from a mid-table fifth-tier side to a League One club.

They’re now just one step from the Championship, but that success brings obvious problems.

Their key players get linked with moves and recently West Brom have been rumoured to be interested in their manager.

One player who has been heavily linked with a move away is a 25-year-old flying winger, Bruno Andrade. He bagged 10 league goals for the club this season, including a late winner at MK Dons which all but clinched them the title.

The former QPR youngster has worked his way back up from the non-league scene and has suitably impressed in his first season with the Imps. He’s being linked with moves to Aston Villa and Portsmouth.

It’s not all bad news and the path to success might be for the Imps to sell their prized asset whilst his stock is high.

Andrade would fetch a handsome six-figure sum and that alone could be the difference between the top half and the bottom half in League One.

Andrade is the type of footballer who attracts big bids. He’s comfortable on the ball, he has flair and boasts both goals and assists for the Imps. He’s still relatively young, but not so young he’s classed as having potential.

He’s right at the top of his game and when the new season resumes that could change. He might stay put and get injured or his form might drop off.

That wouldn’t be good for him, but in terms of him being a saleable asset, it wouldn’t be good for Lincoln either.

They might have climbed out of the basement division but they’re still a selling club, as is any side if the price is right.

This wouldn’t just be selling though, Danny Cowley could trade.

He could ensure that the money was spent wisely, invested in the budget as a whole and used to push the Imps towards the Holy Grail of Championship football, a level they’ve not enjoyed since the early sixties.

That’s why if a big bid comes in for the Portuguese winger, they have to consider it carefully, accepting it might be the best thing they ever did.
