Coventry City manager Mark Robins has suggested that both midfield pair Liam Walsh and Callum O'Hare should be remaining with the Sky Blues following the end of the January transfer window.

Walsh, who arrived on a season-long loan from Championship side Bristol City in the summer, and he has been a really impressive performer during the last few weeks, with the midfielder's remarkable individual goal during the Sky Blues' 2-1 win against Rochdale a few weeks ago highlighting his potential - and he has been a consistent performer in the middle of pitch throughout the campaign.

O'Hare, meanwhile, also arrived at Coventry on a season-long loan deal from Premier League Aston Villa in the summer, and the 21-year-old has also become a key part of Robins; side making 14 appearances in League One so far for the Sky Blues, although he has had to watch from the bench in the last few weeks with some of the club's other midfielders in real form of late.

The Mark Robins quiz – How much do you know about the Coventry City manager?

Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Robins suggested that although there are break clauses in the loan deals for both O'Hare and Walsh, he does not expect that to be an issue with both player getting plenty of first team minutes so far this term, saying: "I think there are break clauses for both players but I honestly don’t see why there would be a major issue.

They are both getting good game time. Callum has had a breather of late but will get back in at some point, I’m sure, but he’s playing minutes anyway."

The Verdict

Robins' comments should be welcome news to Coventry supporters, with both Walsh and O'Hare producing vital contributions to the Sky Blues during the opening few months of the season, which has seen the club cement themselves amongst League One's promotion chasers.

Given the recent form of Walsh, there were concerns that Bristol City could look to recall him early in January to try and see if he can force his way into their first team, while O'Hare's lack of recent minutes could also mean Villa considering recalling him from his loan spell.

However, the pair are arguably better served spending the whole season with the Sky Blues, having both performed well so far this term when called upon by Robins - and it will be interesting to see if Coventry do manage to hold onto both players in January.
