Sheffield Wednesday have been plagued by injury problems all season, which has scuppered their chance of seriously competing for a place in the Sky Bet Championship’s top-six this year.

Jos Luhukay is now the man in-charge at Hillsborough, and although he is starting to see some of his stars return, there are still a number of absentees in South Yorkshire.

The likes of Steven Fletcher and Gary Hooper have missed large parts of the season through injury, which has opened the door for the likes of Atdhe Nuhiu and Lucas Joao to play a starring role in attack.

Both were on the scoresheet in Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Sunderland at the weekend, with Joao opening the scoring and Nuhiu wrapping up the victory for the Owls.

We take a look at Joao in our latest FLW Price-tag feature, with it our belief that the 24-year-old forward would demand a transfer fee of around £6m.

Joao has featured on 26 occasions in the Championship for Wednesday this season, more regularly than he might’ve done had the likes of Fletcher and Hooper been available.

Those appearances have brought nine league goals, with Joao adding a further two assists for the Owls, proving his worth to guide the club away from any serious relegation trouble.
