Sheffield United and Chris Wilder made a thoroughly impressive return to the Championship last season after dominating League One the year before.

The Blades pushed for a playoff spot all season but fell away in the last few weeks of the campaign.

But now Wilder is assembling a squad that he thinks will be capable of going that step further next season and pushing his club into the promotion picture.

This will involve bringing in new faces but it will also involve shipping out some of the dead weight in the squad.

Ageing members such as Clayton Donaldson and James Hanson have left the club on free transfers as Wilder gets set to freshen up his squad.

But what about the players who are not quite ready yet? Here are three promising players Sheffield United should be loaning out this summer.

With the Blades bringing in Dean Henderson for the season it is likely that Eastwood will be bumped down the pecking order.

But with Henderson only at the club on loan there remains a chance for the 21-year-old to impress out on loan and come back in and compete for a starting spot.

The Blades are a bit short in attack, but that should not stop Caolan Lavery being sent out on loan for the season.

He only played 72 minutes for the Blades in the Championship last season, and with the 24-year-old entering the last year of his contract he needs an impressive season playing first-team football.

Regan Slater is a promising young full-back, but with only 15 minutes of league football to his name, a spell out on loan is surely in order.

He needs to go out and adapt to playing first-team football week in week out. Then he can return to Brammal Lane and push for a spot in the first-team squad.
