Sheffield Wednesday have enjoyed a decent start to the season, with Jos Luhukay's men just one point outside the play-offs.

It was a tough summer for the Owls, with the Yorkshire club operating under a transfer embargo that meant new recruits couldn't arrive for much of the window.

With those financial problems, Wednesday have promoted from within their academy under Luhukay and it has been one positive of his reign.

The likes of Matt Penney, Jordan Thorniley, Ash Baker and Fraser Preston have all got themselves in the first-team squad this season and have largely impressed.

The fans have responded well to the energy and passion they bring to the side and it proves there is a lot of talent coming through.

Here we look at TWO more youngsters that could make a name for themselves at Hillsborough in the years to come...

The 18-year-old defender made the squad for the recent game against Leeds United and it highlights just how well thought of he is at Hillsborough.

The U18 captain will have benefitted from the experience and is likely to be integrated into the first-team over the coming years.

He will hope to become a regular in the U23 side too.

Another promising youngster, Shaw too made a recent matchday squad in the 2-2 draw against West Brom in the week.

Like Rice, he didn't get any minutes on the pitch, but again, he will have enjoyed the experience and it will have boosted his confidence.

The 17-year-old is clearly highly-rated and will want to kick on with his boyhood club in the years to come.
