The Scunthorpe star Sheffield United should be willing to pay a seven figure fee for

Scunthorpe United have really seen their play-off hopes thrown into jeopardy in recent weeks in Sky Bet League One.

The Iron looked good for a top six place not too long ago with them in scintillating form and proving very hard to beat.

The wheels have fallen off somewhat since, though, and now they have a job on to catch those above them and overtake them.

If they do not manage to do just that, though, they’re going to be potentially in the sights of other clubs who want their best players and Duane Holmes certainly fits that bill.

With that said, then, this is how much we at Football League World think he could go for in the summer window:

Holmes is a bright young midfielder who has been ever-present this season for the men from Lincolnshire.

He’s shown he can score goals with seven to his name in the league so far whilst his powerful running from the middle third of the pitch makes him a nightmare to try and combat and pick up – which is why we think Sheffield United should go for him.

The Blades and Chris Wilder have a good record of bringing players from League One into the Championship and would surely provide a good platform on which Holmes would improve.

Certainly, he’d be suited to playing a level above League One when you consider his progression so far and Scunthorpe – if they have to sell – will hope they get the fee to reflect that.
