Bristol City's spell in the Championship will continue for at least another season after the Robins secured their safety with a handful of games remaining.

Despite manager Lee Johnson coming under a huge amount of pressure from supporters towards the end of the campaign, he kept things together and showed why he deserves to remain at the helm at Ashton Gate.

But with the Ashton Gate revival now almost complete and the club certainly moving in the right direction both on and off the pitch, the time now needs to come for Johnson to add some quality players to his squad in order to secure their Championship status for yet another campaign.

And one man we at the FLW think would be a superb addition to the squad is £1.2million-rated Derby County forward Johnny Russell.

The former Dundee man has fallen out of favour at Pride Park in recent months and despite the change of management in Gary Rowett, he's still been struggling to get first-team action.

But moving forward, he's a player that's good enough to be playing week-in, week-out and certainly the sort of individual that would seriously improve the ranks down at Ashton Gate.

He's pacy, has good movement and has a real eye for goal too.

Tammy Abraham is now long-gone and isn't coming back anytime soon and Bristol City now need to try and forget about the Chelsea loanee and move forward.

Of course, replacing such a special talent is going to be tough but we've seen glimpses of Johnny Russell in the past but at 27-years-old, he now needs to be hitting his peak.

His days at Derby could be coming to an end and Bristol City could be a superb place to rebuild his career.
