Leeds United forward Ryan Edmondson scored the winner for the Whites under-23s side against Ipswich Town today, which has drawn a mixed response from fans of the club.

The 18-year-old scored for Carlos Corberan’s side just after half-time in their 1-0 win against Ipswich in the Professional Development League North.

Kun Temenuzhkov provided the delivery and Edmondson powered a header into the back of the Tractor Boys net.

According to LUFCDATA, the goal was the forward's 20th in the under-23s league since the start of last season.

Leeds under-23s have made a strong start to the defence of their Professional Development League North title with two wins in their first two games.

The teenager may have felt he could get a chance with Marcelo Bielsa’s first team this summer after an impressive pre-season, which included a hat trick against Tadcaster Albion.

However, the deadline day signing of striker Eddie Nketiah on a season-long loan from Arsenal means Edmondson has moved down the pecking order.

League One side Gillingham are reportedly interested in a move for the 18-year-old forward, so he may leave the club before the League One and Two transfer window closes at the start of September.

Edmondson’s goal drew a mixed response from many Leeds fans, with some congratulating the player and others making claims about his future.
