Callum Robinson's West Bromwich Albion future could well be in doubt this summer.

That's according to The Athletic, who claim that the 27-year-old could well be moved on this summer, with Albion "expecting" to listen to offers for his services this summer.

That may come as a slight surprise to some on the surface of things given the season Robinson had last campaign, where he scored seven goals and registered nine assists in 43 Championship matches, which is not the worst return.

With the above in mind, though, we asked FLW's West Brom fan pundit Matt for his thoughts on Robinson potentially being available for sale this summer.

"I think in terms of Callum Robinson and Albion's relationship - It's come to a natural conclusion." Matt told FLW.

"By that I mean he enjoyed a fairly strong end to the Premier League season and there were high hopes after he began the championship well but his form dropped off a cliff really as the season went on, as did the whole team's performance if I'm honest with you.

"He was someone that fans displayed a lot of anger to. I think he irked them with his performances, he wasn't as committed as some would like to see, backed out of challenges, that sort of stuff. In the end, I think he was booed off the pitch after being substituted one match.

Matt continued: "So yeah, I think it might be the right time for kind of Robinson to leave the club. I'd be happy to see him move on."

"That's not to say he's a bad player, I'm not saying he's a bad player at all, and I think he'll do well for someone else in the championship, but the times right probably for him to leave Albion.

"An acceptable fee, I mean, we swapped him directly for Oliver Burke which was a great move, but then Sheffield United signed him they were paying towards £10 million, almost double figures, so £4-5 million [for Robinson], that might be a push because I can't see anyone paying that, but that is the region I'd be aiming towards."

The Verdict

On the surface of it, Callum Robinson's 2021/22 season doesn't seem that bad, but clearly if you look beyond the numbers there are much deeper problems.

Being booed off the pitch by your own fans is never a good sign and perhaps it is the right time for him to move on this summer.

I agree with Matt that he will be an asset elsewhere, though, and perhaps that fresh start is needed with how things have apparently gone at The Hawthorns in the second half of last season.

Indeed, it will be interesting to see where Robinson does end up this summer, and what sort of transfer fee he will command.
