Sheffield United continue to fly in the Championship and currently sit in second following a stunning start to the campaign.

The Blades romped to promotion from League One last term in spectacular fashion, racking up 100 points and over 100 goals in the process, and they have continued that fine form in the opening months of their  return to Championship action after a six year hiatus.

Manager Chris Wilder has quickly built a reputation as one of the finest coaches and man managers in the game, and he will be keen to keep his side chugging along and building on their current success. One thing what will be on his mind is the January window and who he can look to bring in, but Wilder might already have someone in his squad who can prove to be the key to success.

That man is striker Ched Evans, who has struggled for fitness and form since making his return to the club in the summer following a prison sentence and one-year spell with League Two Chesterfield.

However, having undergone an operation to cure a troublesome ankle, Evans will be looking to make a return over the busy Christmas period and he could well be the key for United in their hunt for promotion to the Premier League.

While the Blades do have Billy Sharp, Leon Clarke, and Clayton Donaldson all vying for a starting spot, the return of Evans gives the Sheffield club a completely different goalscoring option. Evans' prowess in front of goal marks him out from the others, and he will have a big point to prove on his return.

If he can get anywhere near the form her showed in his initial spell with United, then the Blades can count on themselves having a top striker on their hands.

Blades fans, do you agree? Or do you need another striker? Let us know in the comments!
