It's set to be a busy summer down at Hillsborough for Sheffield Wednesday and manager Carlos Carvalhal, who have plenty of rebuilding to do following the club's inability to make it past the first-leg of the play-offs.

The Owls fell to Huddersfield Town as their season ended in a whimper and the pressure is on the management and players to make a real push for the automatic promotion places next time out.

And moving forward, things need to be done correctly at the club as new signings are sought to bring much-needed quality to the ranks in the near future.

And one man we think could really bring an element of quality to the Owls ranks this summer is former Sunderland midfielder Jan Kirchhoff, who has been released following the expiration of his 18-month deal on Wearside.

Kirchhoff was once branded as one of the most talented youngsters to have ever come through the ranks at Bayern Munich and at 26-years-old, he's still got plenty of time to have another stab at England if he so wishes.

Sheffield Wednesday might not be in the top-tier, nor might they be a side that people think will automatically challenge next time out but they're a side with big financial backing and plenty of quality already on their books.

It's a move worth considering for Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal, who really needs to add some proven quality to a side that fell at the final hurdle last time out.
