The reasons why Nottingham Forest will rue not sealing this key transfer deal on Deadline Day

Nottingham Forest were denied a deal to sign Michael Dawson on transfer deadline day, as Dawson’s club Hull decided to block the transfer.

The former Tottenham centre-back has agreed a deal with the club and had travelled to the Nigel Doughty Academy for talks with Forest – but a deal collapsed.

The 34-year-old started his career at the Reds and it would have been an emotional return that would have pleased the Forest faithful.

This could ultimately be an opportunity that Forest and boss Aitor Karanka will live to rue.
