Swansea City defender Ben Cabango has been the club's breakthrough star this season after going from strength to strength since his league debut back in November.

Cabango became the first player born in the 21st century to represent the Swans in a league match when he came off the bench against Huddersfield, and he has since managed to establish himself at the centre of defence for the Welsh side.

The Wales youth international has now made 16 appearances during his maiden campaign in the Swansea first-team fold, with Cabango having formed an impressive centre-back partnership with Joe Rodon prior to the EFL's fixture suspension.

The 19-year-old's strong displays have seen him follow in the footsteps of players such as Rodon, Connor Roberts and Daniel James by climbing through the Swans' academy ranks before nailing down a regular spot in the senior set-up.

Cabango particularly caught the eye with his assured performance in the South Wales derby clash against Cardiff earlier this year, with the former Newport man now being touted for a call-up to the Wales national side in the near future.

Swansea have rewarded Cabango by handing him a contract extension which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2023, with the defender looking set to become a regular figure in Swansea's back line over the coming seasons.

Cabango's continuous improvement has led to him becoming a popular figure among the Swansea fanbase, and it has been clear to see that the Jack Army have loved watching the centre-back's development over the course of the season.
