Reading have had a very tough season so far with plenty of players failing to hit the standards they had set in the previous campaign which saw the Royals reach the play-off final.

Therefore, Jaap Stam has come in for severe criticism from supporters who are understandably unhappy with how this season has transpired.

What's more, it comes off the back of busy transfer windows in which the Dutch manager was sufficiently backed. However, the players that arrived at the Madejski Stadium haven't all settled quickly.

Even though it wouldn't be the ideal situation to introduce youngsters into the team, Stam knows he has very talented players in the academy who are ready to make the step up if players continue to underperform.

Liam Kelly was one youngster from the academy who was given his chance under the former Manchester United man and has flourished since.

Here we look at two players who could emerge for the Royals in the coming years.

The 17-year old is the standout prospect at Reading and is already making a name for himself.

A striker, Loader has represented England at international level and was part of the U17 squad that came runners up to Spain in the European Championships last summer.

Blessed with great pace and having excellent movement, he has scored for fun at U18 level and transferred that form to the U23 setup and a chance in the senior setup should materialise sooner rather than later.

Rinomhota joined the Royals from AFC Portchester three seasons ago and has starred for the development sides since.

The 20-year old is now regular fixture in the U23 side that play in the Premier League 2 division, whilst he got a taste of competitive football in the Checkatrade Trophy with Reading last season too.

He was one of a few younger players who trained with the first-team in pre-season so the central midfielder is clearly someone who Stam rates.
