Millwall and Brentford are both interested in a move for Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane, according to a report from Goal.

Kane impressed during a season long loan in League One with Doncaster in the last campaign, helping his temporary club to a place in the play-offs, where they were beaten by eventual promotion winners Charlton Athletic 4-3 on penalties at the semi final stage following a 4-4 aggregate draw over two legs.

During his time at The Keepmoat Stadium, Kane scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 49 appearances in all competitions, with his impact drawing attention from sides in the division above.

According to reports, both Brentford and Millwall have enquired about Kane's availability, as they look to strengthen their sides in the summer transfer window ahead of next season.

The 20-year-old, who has yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool, only signed a new deal with the Anfield club at the turn of the year, so it is likely that any move in the summer would be a loan one.

The verdict

I think this would be a good move for either Millwall or Brentford.

Kane took to senior football comfortably at Doncaster last season, with his performances clearly showing why he is being linked with a move to the second tier, having played a key role in Doncaster's season at League One level.

The fact that a loan move appears the more likely move could also suit both sides, given the financial pressure both will be under as they look to strengthen in several areas of their squad.
