QPR will be seeking their first win in over a month when they welcome to Nottingham Forest to West London on Wednesday evening as they aim to put a concerning run of form behind them.

Mark Warburton's side had looked capable of maintaining the possibility of a play-off push prior to this, but they have since started to drop down the table and currently find themselves in 12th place.

Their most recent outing saw them suffer a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of West London rivals Fulham, with Aboubakar Kamara scoring two goals to condemn Warburton's men to their fifth match without gaining three points.

The Rs had made a promising start to the clash at Craven Cottage as their high press was rewarded when Jordan Hugill found the net after three minutes, but Kamara then scored either side of half-time to seal the victory for Scott Parker's side.

The second of his efforts saw the Fulham frontman capitalise on a poor clearance from QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley before steering the ball into the net, with this being the latest in a line of errors Lumley has made this campaign.

The24-year-old has been forced to share the QPR number-one spot with Liam Kelly this term, with neither having cemented their spot between the sticks, and the fact the Rs are yet to keep a clean sheet this season will raise much cause for concern in the club's defensive department.

Lumley was selected to start in Friday evening's West London derby by default due to the fact Kelly is currently out of action with an injury, but this did not stop some QPR fans from suggesting Lumley needs to be given a spell out of the side in order to re-build his confidence.

It seems to be a reasonable suggestion given the nature of some of his recent performances, and this would open the door for QPR's summer signing Dillon Barnes to make his first start for the club since joining from Colchester on a two-year deal.

The Hoops are yet to see what Barnes can do in a competitive match since he made the move to London, but there seems no better moment to give him an opportunity in the side with QPR seeking a solution their goalkeeping problem.

Therefore, Barnes could well make his first start for the club against Nottingham Forest in midweek, or he may need to wait slightly longer before making his breakthrough, but it does seem likely he will be given the nod at some point.

He needs to be ready to make an immediate impression when he is called upon by Warburton, as the Rs boss may otherwise feel he needs to delve into the January transfer market to recruit a new goalkeeper, so Barnes will know it is paramount he is veru much ready to make his mark at the club.
