There have been hard-times down at Loftus Road for QPR over the past couple of seasons and Hoops supporters will have been glad to have seen the back if the 2016/17 campaign.

Their campaign fizzled out under returning manager Ian Holloway, who successfully guided his team to safety but couldn’t really get them playing well enough to finish in the top-ten.

It was always going to be a big ask for the former Blackpool chief to get his players firing but there’s hope amongst the R’s supporters that with a strong pre-season and summer, better times could be on the horizon.

And moving forward, there’s one man already in the QPR squad that we at the FLW think could be the standout player next season.

The man in question? Former Bristol City winger Luke Freeman.

Signed by Holloway in January, he showed some seriously early promise as he almost instantly added more pace and directness down the flanks for the Hoops.

It was something they’d really lacked under former manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and the signing appeared to be a really good one.

His form grew steadier rather than spectacular towards the end of the campaign but moving forward, he’s the sort of player that if you get the ball to quickly, can cause serious damage at this level.

QPR might not be dreaming of a promotion push just yet but with some shrewd early-season form and some good display’s from Freeman, they might be up there sooner than expected.
