It promises to be a busy summer at QPR as new manager Steve McClaren looks to implement his ideas after taking over from Ian Holloway.

The R's finished last season in a respectable 16th position and in no danger of going down, however fans weren't always pleased with the style of football and some had high hopes for a squad boasting several quality youngsters.

McClaren will be challenged with looking to improve on that next season and will no doubt want to add to his squad in the summer.

The financial situation at QPR means he is unlikely to get big money to spend in the window, so he will have to scour the market for bargains.

Given that, he will also look to get the best out the current group, as well as moving players on who don't deliver to raise funds.

Here we look at three players who need to have a good pre-season to force their way into the boss' plans...

The midfielder spent the latter part of the season in the Scottish Premiership with Rangers but looks set to return to the London club in the summer.

QPR have several very good midfield players and Goss will find it hard to win a place in the squad, but he will have a better chance now that Holloway has left.

McClaren is already said to be lining up moves for Chris Martin and Jamie Ward and if he adds two forward players to the squad then it's clear several are on their way out.

Even without those pair, the R's have a lot of exciting options in the final third and Sylla needs to impress immediately to avoid leaving.

Similarly, Washington is in the same position.

He struggled last season and fell down the pecking order and whilst the new manager will surely give everyone a fresh start, the former Peterborough man must impress quickly if he is to have a future at Loftus Road.
