Jos Luhukay’s poor start as Sheffield Wednesday manager continued last night as Ipswich Town beat his side 2-1 at Hillsborough.

It means that the former Gladbach boss has recorded just one win as Owls boss in the league and seven points in total – from ten games.

As this tweet from @StatsChristian shows, the last time a Wednesday boss recorded a lower points tally from ten games was way back in 2000, with Paul Jewell in charge.

Luckily for the Yorkshire side results went their way last night, meaning they remain seven points ahead of Birmingham City who occupy the final relegation spot.

However, this run has already got fans debating whether Luhukay should have a future at the club with the performances a big concern too.

In fairness to the manager, he is having to deal with a quite extraordinary injury crisis that has impacted the club all season.

Key men such as Kieren Westwood, Tom Lees, Barry Bannan, Sam Hutchinson, Kieran Lee, Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper are just some of the absentees – with most having missed a chunk of the campaign already.

The Verdict

The results don’t lie and those in charge have to be worried by the decline in the team as relegation is a possibility considering they have to play some of the sides around them.

Of course, the injury situation is unique and certainly needs mentioning but it can’t take away from the fact that seven points from ten games is very bad.

The Owls have a crucial game against Bolton at home on Saturday and a win would seriously ease any relegation worries and it could ensure Luhukay gets more time.
