It is that difficult time of the year when many players’ futures remain in limbo, especially at the bigger clubs who look to ship out fringe players and potential future stars so they can develop as swiftly as possible.

Jaap Stam did that as favour for West Ham United last season by bringing in teenager Reece Oxford, as well as a number of other key loanees, but even with that help the Royals were unable to master top-flight promotion.

I think the Dutchman has to be clever with his recruitment this summer and that is why I propose the club attempt to swoop for Chelsea returnee Isaiah Brown, who has recently ended a loan stint at triumphant Huddersfield Town.

Of course, Brown was successful in helping the Terriers defeat Reading in the Play-Off Final last month, although he may be more recognised for his memorable miss in the first-half when a tap-in could have given his team the lead.

Anyway, the 20 year-old has that positive vibe inside him now and I’m sure he could very well help take the Royals to the Premier League next season – which is quite clearly the aim for Stam after failing at the first attempt.

His seven goals and five assists during two loan spells at Huddersfield and Rotherham United last season proved the potential he has, and I reckon that could be a massive boost for the Royals’ ambitions in the Championship next term.

Reading fans, how would you feel if Izzy Brown arrived? Is there a bitter taste in the mouth from his heroics to help beat you last month? Let us get your opinions in the comment section below!
