It's been a poor season all-round for Aston Villa down in the Championship, especially considering the expectation surrounding the club when they first started back in the Championship.

Now led by former Birmingham City man Steve Bruce, Villa finished far stronger in the second-tier but were still miles away from where many had tipped them to finish at the start of the campaign.

Following Roberto Di Matteo's poor start in charge, the club never really recovered and despite significant investment, it wielded little result as the club finished in mid-table.

But looking ahead to the summer, it's clear that Bruce needs to bring in some players that will shake some of the first-team up over the coming weeks and months.

And one man we think could bit the bill perfectly down in the Midlands is £3.4million-rated West Ham defender Reece Oxford.

The young defender, who has been spending time with play-off chasing Reading this season, has all the qualities needed to make it at this level and he's showing some real promise, despite being just 18-years-old.

He's a favourite of the mainstream media, who seem to love treacking his every move and going forward, he's certainly got what it takes to be a future England international, he ever gets good enough.

But right now h needs games at a strong level and it's certainly something he'd get at Aston Villa, as well as everything else that comes with playing for a team that should be back in the Premier League sooner rather than later.

He's going to be a real talent and he's got some excellent qualities that would really add something that little bit different at Villa Park next season.
