It’s been all change at Sunderland over the past few days as club bosses moved to secure the successor to David Moyes at the Stadium of Light.

Being trusted with the reigns in the North East for the coming season is former Preston North End boss Simon Grayson, who turned the Lilywhites into the most unlikely of promotion chasers last season.

The former Leeds boss was a popular figure amongst the Lancashire faithful during his time at Deepdale but a huge job awaits him at Sunderland, as they look to bounce straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

Of course, when a manager moves from one team to another, there’s always a chance that he might bring one or two of his former players with him.

And there’s one man we at the FLW think would be a perfect fit at the Stadium of Light and that’s Preston midfielder Ben Pearson.

The former Manchester United star is a quiet, unassuming figure in the middle-of-the-park for North End, but his industrious work-rate and tempo has been a big part of Preston’s success over the past couple of seasons

He never stops working and you’d like to think he’s the sort of player Sunderland have been crying out for.

They lacked endeavour and real fight at times next season and you won’t find a player at this level that works any harder than Pearson, who we think has done well not to earn a move to a better club after some fantastic performances.

This could be his chance at a big break and certainly an individual Grayson should be considering during his first couple of weeks at the helm in the North East.
