The January transfer window is only a week old and Middlesbrough haven't been wasting any time.

The signings of Patrick Roberts and Lukas Nmecha on loan from Manchester City showed real signs of intent as Jonathan Woodgate looks to bolster his attacking options, but he might not be done yet.

The Teessiders are keen to add to their attacking line, with The Northern Echo claiming that the club are interested in Eddie Nketiah and Jack Clarke.

Clarke has been linked with a number of Championship clubs, while Nketiah has been heavily tipped for a loan move to Bristol City.

While a move to Middlesbrough appears unlikely, Jonathan Woodgate is said to be 'a huge fan' of the Arsenal starlet.

The report states: "Middlesbrough head into this Saturday’s visit of Derby County, who have just welcomed Wayne Rooney into their squad, still looking at possible new recruits.

"They have also considered Tottenham winger Jack Clarke, while Woodgate is known to be a huge fan of striker Eddie Nkeitiah who has just returned to Arsenal. Both have had loans at Leeds this season already."

The verdict

A move for Eddie Nketiah appears to be highly unlikely at this stage.

It's been heavily suggested that Bristol City are leading the race for the former Leeds United loanee, meaning that a move to Middlesbrough is unlikely.

The Teessiders are keen to strengthen their attack but it seems that they'll need to look elsewhere.
