After such a disappointing 2016/17 campaign, there is no doubt that Garry Monk will be active during the summer transfer window, as they aim to forget last year's relegation from the top flight, and push for an instant return to the Premier League.

The Boro squad is undoubtedly blessed with quality, and the former Leeds boss has been left a side capable of challenging for promotion next term, at his disposal.

There is still much needed work to be done however, and Monk will have to clear out the deadwood whose lacklustre performances ultimately led to an immediate back to the Championship.

One player that Monk should definitely look to make an ambitious move for, is Liverpool's Danny Ings, who is valued at a price of £6.8million on Transfermarkt.com.

Many will still wonder why Danny Ings is yet to depart Anfield, after what has been a dismal few seasons for the forward on a personal level.

The 24-year old has been plagued with injuries over the last year, a torrid spell on the sidelines which made him miss over nine months of action at Anfield.

Ings made just two appearances for the Reds last term, both coming in the EFL Cup against Tottenham Hotspur and Derby County, which adds to his total of just six appearances for Liverpool since his arrival from Burnley in 2015.

The striker was prolific for the Clarets, netting 21 times in 40 league games for Sean Dyche's men in their promotion season to the Premier League in 2013/14.

Ings then went on to net 11 times in 35 games for Burnley, before sealing a dream move to Merseyside, therefore definitely knows how to find the net in the second tier.

Ings is unlikely to become an ever-present for Jurgen Klopp's men in the near future, and one feels like he must look to move away from Anfield in an attempt to reignite his career, and what better club to find himself at than Middlesbrough, who will undoubtedly be looking to return to the top flight at the first time of asking next term.
