Sheffield Wednesday are one of a host of teams buzzing around the play-offs in the Championship this campaign and manager Carlos Carvalhal will be desperate to see his side into the top six come the end of the campaign.

The Owls have picked up some good results in recent weeks and the 2-0 home win over title-chasers Huddersfield Town went some way to ensuring they stuck with the chasing pack at the top of the table.

But with the transfer window now upon us, there are plenty of players being linked with a move to Hillsborough.

Some are being tipped to join on loan whilst some are set to be permanent transfers.

This is to strengthen the squad ahead of a promotion bid and a busy run-in of fixtures.

But if they were all to join the club, just how could the Sheffield Wednesday XI look in February if all the transfer rumours are to be believed?

FLW's Hayden Atkins takes a look...

GK: Keiren Westwood

Kieren Westwood has been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion

Republic of Ireland international Keiren Westwood remains Sheffield Wednesday's number one between the sticks and there is little chance of him leaving the club this January.

The Owls haven't really been linked with another keeper and we expect the former Coventry man to be goalkeeper when February rolls around.

RB: Liam Palmer

It's been a really good battle between Jack Hunt and Liam Palmer for the right back spot this season and we don't think there's any real need for Carvalhal to bring in another defender in this position in January.

The pair have kept the spot competitive and they will be fine to see the Owls through until the end of the season.

CB: Glenn Loovens

Experienced Dutch defender Glenn Loovens brings a whole host of experience and grittiness to the Wednesday back line and he'll certainly be in the side come February.

He's been a real force for the Owls all season and his position doesn't seem to be under threat.

CB: Tom Lees

Former Elland Road favourite Tom Lees plays his football down at Hillsborough these days and he's doing well alongside Loovens at centre half.

The 26-year-old is a towering unit at the heart of defence and he's been a big part of some of Wednesday's biggest wins this season.

LB: Emilio Izaguirre

Sheffield Wednesday are thought to be keen on bringing Celtic's veteran left back Emilio Izaguirre to Hillsborough this month and he'd represent a decent bit of business for the owls.

The Honduran has a whole host of experience from playing in the Champions League with the Bhoys over the past few years and he'd be a great player to have in the side.

RM: Jefferson Farfan

This is perhaps one of the more exotic names to be linked with a move to Sheffield this window and should the Owls pull off the signing of former Bundesliga favourite Jefferson Farfan, it'd be a great bit of business indeed.

He's a pacey customer who has a wealth of experience from playing at the top level and he'd certainly bring something different to Hillsborough.

CM: Barry Bannan

Former Aston Villa man Barry Bannan has been somewhat of a revelation since making the move to Hillsborough and he remains one of the club's biggest players moving forward.

His endless work-rate and ability to cut the ball out in the middle of the park has made him a real fans' favourite and there's little chance of him moving on this January.

CM: Sam Hutchinson

Sam Hutchinson has made the transition from centre back to midfield with ease and the former Chelsea youngster has filled a real void in that area of the pitch for manager Carlos Carvalhal.

His height, strength and pace make him a cracking option in the middle and there's plenty of hope on the Wednesday terrace that he can stay there and become an even better player as the months roll on.

LM: Adam Reach

B

Adam Reach was a big money signing from Middlesbrough this summer and it's fair to say we're still waiting to see the best from the pacey winger.

He brings plenty of directness to the Wednesday flank but at times, it'd be nice to see a little more end product from him but that will surely come in time.

ST: Sam Winnall

Former Barnsley striker Sam Winnall made the move to Wednesday last week and there's plenty of hope the former Scunthorpe man can score plenty of goals as the Owls continue their push for the play-offs.

He's already scored 11 Championship goals this season and looks good to hit more as the season continues.

ST: Steven Fletcher

Former Sunderland man Steven Fletcher leads the Wednesday line these days and his presence up front is a big part of the Owls' game.

He's a big, powerful unit and at this level, is a threat week-in, week-out.

More goals would be nice but he and Winnall showed some good signs of understanding during the win over Huddersfield Town last weekend.
