Middlesbrough have had a very steady opening 16 matches of the Championship season and currently sit in fourth place.

Tony Pulis' side look set to push for an automatic promotion place after starting the season as one of the only sides to perform to a consistently high level, which leaves them currently sitting just two points behind Leeds United.

Whilst their defence has been incredibly impressive, Boro have been lacking in firepower at times with their 17 goals the lowest tally amongst the promotion hopefuls.

As the January transfer window approaches, so do fresh opportunities for Pulis to strengthen his attack with some much-needed ammunition.

Football Insider have revealed that the North East club currently lead the race to sign Irish striker Ali Reghba from Bohemians.

He is reportedly on a two-week trial at the Riverside as the youth coaches take a look at the 18-year-old and the club weigh up a bid.

Here is how Pulis could line-up his attack if they secure the youngster's service...

It feels like a dynamic duo up front could be the answer to Pulis' attacking woes.

Assombalonga proved he can play in a front-two whilst at Peterborough United and Nottingham Forest, and it would be interesting to see him in a similar system at the Riverside.

As a youngster, there are not many better strikers you could play alongside than Assombalonga, so this would be a great opportunity for Reghba.

He will obviously be very raw when he arrives, but it would be interesting to see how he gets on alongside Assombalonga.
