It looks like being a busy time for Tony Pulis over the next few weeks. He missed out on transfer targets in the summer, but won't want to endure the same struggles this time around.

He's already being linked with players, former Derby County striker Aleksandar Prijovic is one he's reportedly keen on, with Wolves star Adama Traore another he hopes to take to Boro on loan.

Traore only left the Riverside in the summer for a fee of £18m, but he's fallen out of favour with Nuno Santo and could be available on loan, for the right fee of course.

Pulis is hoping that some swift action and decisive moves will see his side back in the race for an automatic promotion spot, something that has slipped form their grasp recently.

With their recent transfer targets in mind, we look at the Middlesbrough forward line and how it might appear for the first game of February 2019.

One player we don't think will be out on his ear in the transfer window is Stewart Downing. He's a Middlesbrough stalwart and will surely be fighting until the bitter end at the Riverside.

He's seemingly a Tony Pulis favourite and his style fits with the current approach adopted by the controversial manager.

The 6ft 3in Serbian would make a good target man, which might spell trouble for Jordan Hugill.

Hugill is only on loan at Boro, but they're crying out for a big lump up top to land the ball on.

Prijovic is surely the option Pulis would prefer.

Traore would be a massive coup for Boro, he was sensational last season and is deserving of a Premier League place.

However, if he's not getting that it would make sense for him to move back to the Riverside, a club he knows works to his strengths.
