There’s a sense of expectation at Elland Road, with Marcelo Bielsa heading into Leeds United ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Bielsa has had a tough start to the summer, with Leeds not as active as he might’ve liked so far in the transfer window.

There is plenty of work for Bielsa to do ahead of the new season, with it widely expected that the 62-year-old will turn to his favoured 3-3-1-3 system.

Should that switch happen, the biggest difference will be Leeds’ use of a three-man defence, with supporters seeing previous coaches play with a flat four.

Rebuilding that defence is going to be amongst Bielsa’s key tasks this month, with the Whites still short of bodies.

Here at FLW, we take a look at how Bielsa’s defensive unit could look when Leeds take on Stoke City on the opening weekend of the Championship season…

Recent reports have confirmed it is looking likely that Blackman will arrive at Elland Road in the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper will expect to arrive as No.1 ahead of Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

Foyth has been linked with a loan move to Elland Road.

The Tottenham centre-back has a good reputation, and although he is young, he could slot into Bielsa’s system with ease.

This could be a really exciting addition.

Bielsa has a reputation for transforming midfielders into central defenders, with Forshaw one man who could be used in a back-three.

Forshaw doesn’t have much size, but his quality on the ball could make him key to how Bielsa wants Leeds to play.

Jansson is amongst Leeds’ key men.

Bielsa will want to keep the Swede on board this summer, with Jansson presumably having a big part to play next season.

He will return late after World Cup duty, but will expect to be ready for Stoke.
