With just four games left to play in the League One season, Sheffield Wednesday are looking to make sure that they finish in the top six to guarantee a crack at promotion to the Championship for the 2022-23 campaign.

Their chances looked ropey at certain times earlier in the season, but Darren Moore's side have hit full stride in recent months, losing just two of their last 16 games.

With games in-hand over their rivals, the Owls need to finish the 2021-22 season on a high, but until they know what league they are in come July when the new EFL campaign kicks off then the future of some of the playing squad is up in the air.

Who is out of contract at Hillsborough though come the summer? Let's take a look.

There are some individuals who have been key to Wednesday's success this season that are on the verge of departing if their deals are not renewed, starting with Massimo Luongo.

The Australia international has put his past injury struggles behind him to feature regularly this season, but as of February confirmed that his future was 'in limbo' with contract talks yet to begin.

Another long-serving Wednesday man who could leave is Sam Hutchinson, who if you take out a short stint at Cyprus-based Pafos in 2020, has been at the Owls since 2014 and this season has played 25 times in League One.

One player who may move on though is Joe Wildsmith, who has been at the club since graduating through the youth academy.

The goalkeeper penned a five-year deal in 2017 and that will expire this summer, but with a lack of first-team opportunities recently his future may lie elsewhere.

Chey Dunkley is another whose future is hanging in the balance, with the defender's two-year contract almost up, whilst both Jack Hunt and Saido Berahino's one-year deals will expire in June.

In the case of Hunt though, the right-back has an option in his contract that can be triggered to extend his stay by a year, but that isn't the case for Berahino it seems, who needs to play his way into a new deal at Hillsborough.
