Leeds United are one of nine clubs reported to be interested in signing Juventus U23 talent Stephy Mavididi, as reported on TEAMtalk, with Everton, Newcastle, Southampton, Burnley, Aston Villa, Derby, Fulham and Middlesbrough joining the Whites in the hunt for the former Arsenal youngster.

The potential arrival of Mavididi at Elland Road would be bound to cast a shadow over current Leeds youngster Ryan Edmondson, who has performed well for the U23's last season, and is being touted by many for a role in the Whites' first-team next season.

So how do you think Edmondson will feel if Leeds do pursue the Mavididi transfer?

We discuss........

Kealan Hughes

"He will probably feel quite disheartened. He is a young player with a lot of potential so will question why Leeds are bringing in a player similar but someone who they will not have long-term.

"It should make him more determined than ever to impress, though. He must seize his chance in the first-team if it comes, and show he is willing to work harder than any other striker at the club.

"Hopefully it works to motivate him and if he can impress Bielsa with his attitude, that will go a long way in making more first-team appearances."

Alfie Burns

"Edmondson’s next step at Leeds has to be into the first-team, but I’m not convinced his head should go down if the club target other striker.

"He’s got time on his side and is impressing in the under-23s, which will not go unnoticed at Elland Road.

"In time, he will be one of the leading men at Elland Road, but that might not be for the next four or five years.

"Patience is key here and the player can’t let his head go down."

Gary Hutchinson

“They won’t, but he’ll feel like there is competition for places.

“All too often pundits like us believe that players will feel put out, but he’s a young lad and to learn from a player a couple of rungs ahead on the ladder will be great.

“Imagine, you’re a kid and suddenly a player comes in who has played with Ronaldo. He’ll be great for development.

“I don’t think the transfer will happen, but if it does it’ll be excellent for Leeds.”

George Brooks

"Edmondson is a very exciting young player and I think he knows that it’s only a matter of time before he gets his chance in the first-team at Elland Road.

"He shouldn’t worry too much about things he can’t control.

"All he can do is focus on working hard and impressing Marcelo Bielsa in pre-season, in the hope that he gets a proper chance to show what he can do.

"If Leeds can sign Mavididi, it might actually motivate Edmondson to work even harder and ensure that he gets his opportunity."
