With a new manager now firmly in-situ at Villa Park there is an ideal opportunity for players young and old to impress Dean Smith, and attempt to become a regular in the Aston Villa first team squad.

Despite a mixed start for Smith in his opening Villa fixtures, fans will know particularly from his days at Brentford the type of football to be expected and the players he will need to achieve it.

Of the crop of youngsters currently at Villa Park, who should fans be getting excited about?

We discuss.....

Gary Hutchinson

I’ve heard lots of good things about right-sided full back Isaiah Bazeley-Graham.

He’s 18, currently playing for their Under 23 side and is developing at an astounding rate.

With full backs a problem area for Villa there might be a chance for him to stake a claim.

He’s a way off the first team yet, but in the next twelve months I suspect you’ll be hearing his name more often.

George Harbey

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy is probably the pick of the bunch.

He hasn’t featured an awful lot in the last few years but has shown glimpses of potential and could be a real asset to Dean Smith up front in the next few years.

Jay Taylor

Jordan Lynden.

He is Aston Villa’s U23 captain and even played in the Premier League before an injury derailed his progress through the ranks at the club.

He certainly has what it takes should he impress Dean Smith over the course of the season to feature more.

Lynden is certainly a player the fans should be excited about.
