Nottingham Forest have made a promising start to the Championship season under Sabri Lamouchi and promotion looks a real possibility.

However, Lamouchi is still keen to strengthen his attacking options in the January transfer window, in order to provide backup for top scorer Lewis Grabban.

Forest have been linked with various different attacking players over the past few weeks, including Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia, with BBC Sport's Phil McNulty claiming that the Reds are one of a number of sides to have shown an interest in the forward.

Kodjia was part of the Villa side that won promotion from the Championship last season and scored nine goals in all competitions for Dean Smith's side, but he's struggled for game time in the Premier League this season.

So, would Kodjia be a good signing for Forest? We discuss...

Chris Gallagher

"I think he would be a brilliant signing for Forest. They are in a great position and promotion looks like a real possibility but they need some more firepower to help them over the line and Kodjia would help on that front.

"He has scored goals at this level, wouldn't take time to settle and should be available for a decent fee, so I don't really see a downside to this.

"As well as that, he is capable of playing on the left in a 4-2-3-1 formation, meaning he could play in the same team as Lewis Grabban.

"Forest have been linked with plenty of strikers in the past few weeks but I think that Kodjia would be the perfect fit."

QUIZ: Can you name every Nottingham Forest player’s shirt number?

Toby Wilding

"This could be a useful signing for Forest.

"Their recent good run means they look well set to challenge for promotion this season and the addition of Kodjia is one that could help them to do that.

"While Lamouchi may not want to rotate his side too much, as a result of where it has got them already, he may need to add some more squad players to his side in order to step up should any injuries or suspensions arise, and having played a similar role to that as Villa won promotion last season, Kodjia could play that part well.

"Indeed, with Kodjia still making a useful scoring contribution despite starting less than half of their league games, it could certainly be argued that, at this level at least, he could be the alternative to Lewis Grabban that Forest seem to have been looking for for quite some time now."
