Charlton Athletic have found their feet quickly on their return to the Championship, with the Addicks currently third in the table just two points shy of current leaders Leeds United.

But despite this early season success, manager Lee Bowyer has suggested in the South East London Mercury, that had the funds been available, he would have been interested in signing the Wigan Athletic duo of Kieffer Moore and Jamal Lowe.

So if Bowyer had been able to snap up the duo, would they have been good additions and if so why?

We discuss........

Chris Thorpe

"I have no doubt that both of these players could have added something to Charlton's existing squad.

"Moore would have been a great strike partner for Lyle Taylor, particularly with his aerial presence providing another variation to the Addicks attack.

"Lowe would have also provided another goal scoring threat, which would have taken a lot of the goalscoring responsibility off of Taylor's shoulders.

"Lastly, it must be noted that both players have endured poor starts to the season with Wigan Athletic, so maybe it could be classed as a lucky escape for Bowyer."

Dean Cooke

"I think they would have been good signings in terms of the fact that they're players who would work hard and fit into the current ethos that Bowyer's side have at the moment.

"Moore is a good striker, is he Championship level? I'm not so sure, but the Addicks need all the help they can get in that department as it currently looks like they are a bit over reliant on forward Lyle Taylor.

"Jamal Lowe was fantastic for Portsmouth last season, but he hasn't hit it off at Wigan just yet, failing to score despite playing in every Championship game so far. Another player though, who works hard and would have fit into Charlton's style and their ability to counter-attack.

"These two signings would have boosted the overall outlook of the squad for the season, but they're currently looking strong enough to compete in the division."

Alfie Burns

“They’ve not had the best of starts to the season with Wigan, but I still think that Moore and Lowe would’ve been good additions at Charlton, especially with Bowyer’s management.

“The pair offer size, strength and pace between them, and I’m sure goals will follow before long.

“A manager like Bowyer clearly inspires his players, and that would’ve been the case if he got his hands on either Moore or Lowe.

“They’d offer something different to Lyle Taylor at the top end of the pitch and would compliment his attributes well.”
