Sheffield Wednesday are one of the clubs in contention to sign 33-goal striker Jack Marriott from Peterborough, according to the Sun.

But do the Owls need the £6.5m-rated striker? Or should they avoid?

We discuss....

Alfie Burns

Sheffield Wednesday will have to move some of their current strikeforce on if they are to complete this deal.

Luhukay has a number of options in attack, but Marriott would freshen things up at Hillsborough.

If Wednesday do make their move, and Marriott can replicate his League One form, he could be a shrewd addition.

George Dagless

The Owls need to swerve this.

He's a good player and would be worth a punt for a bit less money but Wednesday don't need a new forward desperately.

They've plenty of options up top so they should invest elsewhere on the pitch.

Ben Barkworth

Wednesday already have a number of top strikers, so this move should only be done if they can sell one of those such as Jordan Rhodes.

The wage bill needs to be cut down before bringing Marriott in. He would be an excellent addition, though.

Chris Gallagher

At £6.5m I'm not sure.

Wednesday do need a striker but with Fernando Forestieri, Lucas Joao, Gary Hooper and Atdhe Nuhiu as attacking options it maybe isn't as pressing as other positions.

If they could shift Jordan Rhodes he would certainly be an upgrade but they could do with big-money signings elsewhere to improve the team as a whole.
