Sunderland are looking good for an instant return to the Championship after their disastrous double relegation, but there is one factor that can help them romp home to automatic promotion: their home form.

The Black Cats are undefeated at home this season, as are Luton and Barnsley, and this can be the one factor that drives Sunderland to promotion.

In the table for just home games, Sunderland are fourth, having drawn nearly half their games at the Stadium of Light.

Although they are not losses, which is excellent, Sunderland must turn these draws into wins if they are serious about finishing in the top two.

While Charlton have lost two, they have won 10 home games, and Luton have won a staggering 12 of 15 home games this season.

On the road, Sunderland haven’t been as good, so they must rely on this form at home.

They have already broken the official record for attendance at a League One game this season, so they should use this to their advantage.

Jack Ross’ men recently lost their star striker Josh Maja, who joined French outfit Bordeaux, but they replaced him with Will Grigg.

The Wigan man is the sort to score goals at any level, and he could be the one to push them to automatic promotion.

With the games in hand that Sunderland have, the Stadium of Light must get behind them to drive their team over the line.

While many other factors will impact the chase for promotion, you feel that home form will be vital, and Sunderland must turn their draws into wins to do so.
