Aston Villa's summer of turmoil may be coming to an end with owner Tony Xia close to an agreement with a Middle East group to bring fresh investment to the club.

However, whilst that will help Villa's long-term future, they will still have to sell key players in the short-term to stay within FFP requirements.

The likes of Jack Grealish, James Chester, Jonathan Kodjia and Albert Adomah are all attracting interest and those four, along with others, seem sure to leave Villa Park in the coming weeks.

Yet, with Steve Bruce unable to reinvest into his playing squad, he will have to turn to those on the fringes to make the step up.

And, one man who needs to deliver is Henri Lansbury.

Since making a move from Nottingham Forest in January, things have not gone well for the 27-year old who struggled to establish himself as a regular in the side.

However, this could be his opportunity to really make a name for himself at the West Midlands outfit.

Those imminent departures will create a space for the former Arsenal man in the team and at his best he can be a very good player.

He is good on the ball, drives forward and weighs in with goals and assists but for whatever reason he hasn't shown that in the claret and blue of Villa.

In the past, Bruce has had so many options that the midfielder wouldn't get a run in the team, and that in turn has impacted his confidence, whilst injuries also haven't helped.

Yet, he will be given a chance this season and a fit Lansbury, that the manager trusts and plays, could transform his Villa career and become the creative midfielder they thought they'd signed 18 months ago.
