In 2010/11, Nigel Clough was in charge of Derby and having to work on a shoestring budget, Clough had to delve into the loan market to possibly unearth some hidden gems who just needed a chance to perform and in August 2010, Nigel Clough stumbled upon Alberto Bueno.

Bueno started his career in Madrid with Real and even went on to make 100 appearances for the B team and 3 appearances for the first team, scoring 22 goals in this time. Bueno was eventually shipped out to Valladolid where he scored 13 goals in 85 games.

Bueno was brought to Derby by then manager, Nigel Clough in August 2010. He was expected to be the main man to score and create goals and expected to set the Championship alight and, for many Derby fans, he did this but just not enough.

Bueno had all the flair and ability to make it to the very top, he showed this in flashes and in some games proved why he was a product of the Real Madrid youth setup. Alberto Bueno showed flashes of brilliance at times and left defenders for dust, he was either a cut above the rest or just faded out of games.

Alberto Bueno was thrown in at the deep end when he came to Derby, he had come from Spain where the game is a lot slower and less physical compared to the Championship. This showed when Bueno picked up a hamstring injury after the first three months of being at the club and this physicality looked to have taken its toll on the then 22-year-old.

Bueno made his way back to Valladolid in 2011, only to be moved on to Rayo Vallecano where he enjoyed a really good spell scoring 28 goals in 72 games for the Spanish outfit, from here he got his big-money move to Portuguese giants Porto, only to go on and make four appearances.

From Porto, Bueno was shipped out on loan to numerous places such as Granada, Leganes, Malaga and Boavista. Boavista decided to sign Bueno on a permanent deal this summer, he has played in three games for the Portuguese side, grabbing two assists in that time.
