Huddersfield Town continuing their search to find Jan Siewert's successor, after the 37-year-old was dismissed from his role in charge of the Terriers after a poor start to life back in the Championship this term.

According to the bookmakers, Charlton boss Lee Bowyer is one of the favourites for the vacancy, after starting this year's league campaign well in the Addicks' first season back in the second tier of English football.

Football League World's Charlton Athletic fan pundit Robert Smith issued his thoughts on who he would like to see replace Bowyer, if he was to move to Huddersfield Town in the future.

"Duchatelet made it clear at the point when it was announced that Bowyer would not be signing a new contract this summer, (despite then being overturned within 24 hours) that they would not replace him with someone external and would promote internally citing he’s outward line of selling the club.

"Step forward Johnnie Jackson would be the obvious choice. Massively popular with the support, he has worked closely as number 2 to Bowyer, we know he work’s a lot on the defensive side of the team and set pieces.

Smith insisted that Jackson would get the support from the Charlton supporters, but stated that he doesn't want the club to be in a position to have to appoint a successor for Bowyer after such a strong start to the season.

"Whilst Johnnie would get the full support of the fans due to his status with us, it’s not a situation that would be welcomed, especially with the club flying so high at the moment."

Charlton will be hoping to build on their impressive start to the season when they take on in-form Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
