Nottingham Forest winger Joe Lolley will be needing to rediscover his best form after he was left out of the Reds starting line-up for their 4-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

Lolley has been an important performer for Sabri Lamouchi’s side during the first half of the campaign, with the 27-year-old having scored three and assisted three goals in 19 Championship appearances so far this season for the Reds.

However, the attacker has not managed to replicate the same level of consistency in his form that he was showing for Forest last season, which saw Lolley establish himself as a mainstay in attack, having registered 11 goals and 11 assists in 46 appearances last term.

The 27-year-old is without a goal since netting an equaliser in the Reds' 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers back at the start of October, and that is something that he will need to change in the next few weeks to help Lamouchi's side find some more end product in the final third, with Forest scoring just three goals in their last four Championship matches.

QUIZ: What club did each of these 16 Nottingham Forest players sign from?

Despite Lolley's struggle for form in front of goal during the last few months, Lamouchi has often opted to stick with him on the right-hand side of the Reds' attack, but the Frenchman decided to drop the winger to the bench against Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday with Sammy Ameobi moving the right and Joao Carvalho starting on the left-hand side.

That change, though, failed to help the Reds pose more of an attacking threat, as Lamouchi's side registered just three attempts on target as they failed to win for a fourth consecutive match in the league, which suggests that Lolley could have the chance to force his way back into the side for Forest's trip to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

He will need to ensure that he shows some improvement in his form if he called back into the starting line-up, with Lolley being reminded that he is no longer a guaranteed starter if he is struggling to perform - and having been so impressive last campaign his form could well be key to helping the Reds get back to their best.

Nottingham Forest have only managed to register 27 goals in their opening 21 Championship matches, which is the fewest out of any of the sides currently in the top half of the table, and Lolley needs to step up to help the Reds improve in front of goal, which could prove to be vital if they are to claim a play-off place at the end of the season.
